Biografía
Howard Paul Donald (nacido el 28 de abril de 1968) es un cantante, compositor, batería, pianista, bailarín, DJ y productor musical inglés. Es miembro del grupo pop Take That. También fue juez en el programa de talentos de realidad alemán "Got to Dance" desde 2013 hasta 2014, durante un parón de Take That.
Donald fue educado en la Littlemoss High School en Droylsden, sin obtener ningún GCSE, y se formó durante tres años como pintor de vehículos, en el Youth Training Scheme (YTS).
Como un DJ en ciernes, sus intereses musicales fueron en gran medida informados por la colección de vinilos de su hermano Colin, e incluían actos electrónicos como Kraftwerk, John Foxx, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) y Gary Numan. De adolescente, Donald se interesó por el baile y frecuentó el incipiente circuito de breakdance en el área de Greater Manchester, donde tuvo su primer contacto con su futuro compañero de banda Jason Orange. Nigel Martin-Smith reclutó a Donald, junto con Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen y Robbie Williams para formar una boyband británica, Take That. La banda disfrutó de cinco años de éxito hasta que Williams se fue en 1995, dejándolos continuar como cuarteto. Junto con Orange, Donald tuvo menos protagonismo en las voces principales que Barlow, Owen y Williams durante la primera era de la banda, sin embargo, cantó la voz principal en el sencillo "Never Forget", que alcanzó el número 1 en el Reino Unido en 1995.
A principios de 1996, los compañeros de banda de Donald, Barlow, Owen y Orange, tomaron la difícil decisión de que Take That se separara. En 2005, Take That se reformó y anunció una gira de reunión, "The Ultimate Tour" en el verano de 2006, tras el lanzamiento de su álbum de grandes éxitos, "Never Forget: The Ultimate Collection". La gira fue seguida a finales de 2006 por su primer álbum de estudio desde 1995, "Beautiful World", y de él lograron dos números uno con "Patience" y "Shine". "Beautiful World" contó con Donald en la voz principal en dos temas; "Beautiful World" y "Mancunian Way". La canción "Mancunian Way" es un tributo a la ciudad natal de la banda, Manchester.
En el álbum de Take That de 2008 "The Circus", Donald cantó la voz principal en dos temas, "What Is Love" y "Here". También compartió las voces principales con el resto de la banda en la canción de apertura del álbum, "The Garden".
En el álbum de Take That de 2010 "Progress", Donald cantó la voz principal en la canción "Affirmation". También tocó la batería en varias canciones del álbum "Progress" y mezcló un tema B-side para el segundo sencillo "Kidz" llamado "Revenge of the Kidz".
En el álbum de Take That de 2017 "Wonderland", Donald cantó la voz principal en "Every Revolution".
En 2021, Donald apareció en "The Masked Dancer", disfrazado de Zip. Alcanzó la final y fue desenmascarado en tercer lugar.
Donald fue uno de los jueces en el programa de baile "Got to Dance" en Alemania desde 2013 hasta 2014.
