Biography

Anne Kessler (French: *Anne Kessler*; born 1964) is a French theater director and actress, and an honorary member of the Comédie-Française. She studied at the National Theater School of Chaillot under Antoine Vitez, who offered her a contract to join the Comédie-Française, and she joined the troupe at the age of 24 in 1989. As an actress, she has performed in around sixty plays, alternating between comedic, tragic, or romantic roles. She has worked under the direction of Piotr Fomenko, *Alan Françon*, Jean-Pierre Vincent, *Danièle Podalydès*, Jacques Lassalle, Christophe Roc, or Arno Desplechin. She began directing in 2006 with *Gérard* at the Studio-Théâtre. Alongside her acting career, she has consistently directed plays at the Comédie-Française. Outside of Comédie-Française, in 2012, she directed *Flowers for Algernon* by Daniel Keyes, which won the 2013 Molière Award for Best Private Show and was listed among the year’s best theater productions; Grégoire Gadbois also received the 2014 Molière Award for Best Solo Performance for his role in it.
