Biography

Everett G. Brown (* January 1, 1902 in Smith County, Texas; † October 14, 1953 in Los Angeles, California) was an American actor. Born in Texas, the African American appeared in around 40 Hollywood productions between 1927 and 1953. The stocky actor mostly portrayed Native Americans, servants, or slaves in smaller supporting roles. Some of Brown's more well-known films include "Hunt for James A.," "King Kong," and "Gone with the Wind," in which he played the loyal foreman Big Sam. He died at the age of only 51 and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Los Angeles.
