Biography

Franco Ukmar, originally Uckmar (Rome, March 29, 1936 – Rome, August 10, 2016) was an Italian actor, circus performer, and stuntman. He is well-known for his roles in the films of the Bud Spencer-Terence Hill duo, often as one of the henchmen on the opposing side who suffers the duo's humorous punches.

The Uckmar family is a renowned circus family. Franco had five other brothers, Giancarlo, Giovanni, Bruno, Clemente, and Sergio, who also worked as performers and appeared in films. Like many of his colleagues, he began in the 1960s with Italian or Italian-Spanish mythological films, where he worked as a stuntman and weapons master. In some films, he acted alongside one of his brothers. Over time, he became one of the busiest extras, even taking on smaller roles with a few lines in films. After the end of the sword-and-sandal genre, Ukmar started working on the sets of spaghetti westerns, and from the 1970s, he also appeared in police films and adventure films.
