Biography

Gajiro Sato (Japanese: 佐藤 蛾次郎; August 9, 1944 – December 9, 2022) was an actor and television personality from Japan. He appeared in the television drama "Otoko wa Tsurai yo" in 1968. From 1969, he played the role of "Genkich" (nickname: Genko, Gen-chan), a temple servant from Shibamata Taishakuten in the film "Being a Man is Tough." He continued to appear until his last work in 2019, becoming an inseparable part of this series. Fans believe that he appeared in all 50 works, but only in the eighth work, "The Love Song of Otoko wa Tsurai yo Torajiro," is his name on the poster; however, just before the film started, he was involved in a car accident and was hospitalized. Among the films or television programs he was involved in is "Otoko wa Tsurai yo."
