Jaroslava Kretschmerová

Jaroslava Kretschmerová (* September 1, 1955, Prague) is a Czech actress and a long-time member of the Ypsilon Theatre. She comes from an artistic family; her grandmother worked at the National Theatre, her mother was an opera singer, and her father Ladislav Krečmer (born Kretschmer) was a member of the Musical Theatre in Karlín. After graduating from the Prague DAMU, where she studied in the class of Professor Miloš Nedbal, she became a member of the Ypsilon Theatre in 1978, where she still performs and has acted in most of its productions. She has also guest-starred at the Karlín Theatre, the Theatre on the Balustrade, and the Kalich Theatre.

She is an actress with a strong temperament and a highly distinctive acting style, which has led Czech directors to cast her in a number of films. An integral part of Jaroslava Kretschmerová's acting work is her work in dubbing, where she lends her voice primarily to Barbra Streisand. She voices the character Selma Bouvier, the sister of Marge Simpson. For her performance in Švankmajer's film "Otesánek," she was nominated for the Czech Lion award in 2001.
