Patrick Joswig

Patrick Joswig (Bochum, 12 August 1975) is a German actor. He has performed, among others, at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and in various TV series. He also appeared in films such as *23 – Nichts ist so wie es scheint* (1998) and *Das weiße Rauschen* (2001).

Patrick Joswig left Märkisches Gymnasium in the Wattenscheid district of Bochum after the 12th grade to become an actor. He studied acting at the Westfälische Schauspielschule from 1995 to 1999. During his training, he made his first television appearances and starred in the feature film *23 – Nichts ist so wie es scheint*.

Patrick Joswig has been featured in numerous film and television productions, including in 2014 in *Die Auserwählten*, a film about the Odenwaldschule. On stage, he has performed at Schauspielhaus Bochum and in Essen.

Since 2009, together with Bastian Schlange, he has published undercover reports under the name *Die Wattenscheider Schule*, with which they appear in lectures across Germany. In 2019, the two authors opened their concept to other creative minds under the label *Wattenscheider Schule*.

On 6 March 2020, his first photo exhibition took place in the Neuland project space in Bochum under the title *archive.jos*. The exhibition had to be canceled due to the first lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany. In October 2020, he directed his first work, *Wattenscheid – Hartz aus Gold*, in Bochum-Wattenscheid with Joe Bausch, Ralf Richter, Kailas Mahadevan, Wolfgang Wendland, and others.

In 2021, he primarily cast the speakers for the radio play *Katsche, Kopp und Ko.* by author and producer Sebastian Büttner, which was directed by Matthias Kapohl for the radio station 1LIVE and takes place in Bochum-Wattenscheid. He portrayed the role of Katsche, one of the main characters.

Joswig is a member of the German Film Academy and lives in Berlin-Friedenau.
