Biography

Søren Østergaard R. (born 11 May 1957 in Esbjerg) is a Danish actor and clown. He is best known as a comedian in *Zirkus Nemo*, where he, among other things, plays the role of *Smadremanden*. He has also appeared in *Landsbyen*, *Andersens julehemmelighed*, *Pyrus i Alletiders Eventyr*, and the feature film *Pyrus på Pletten*, as well as in *Så hatten passer*, *Hatten Rundt*, and *Hatten i skyggen*.

He received both the *Robert* and *Bodil* awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in *Kærlighedens smerte* from 1993. In 2014, he was named a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog.
