Biography

Sven-Eric Gamble (born Carlsson; 10 August 1924, Stockholm – 9 May 1976, Stockholm) was a Swedish actor. He grew up in a poor working-class family in Södermalm and had to contribute to the family’s livelihood from an early age. His first stage role, Gamble played as a child actor at Dramaten in 1931, after which he also appeared in several films. After completing elementary school, Gamble attended a technical vocational school, but at the age of 18, he applied and was admitted to the Royal Dramatic Theatre’s acting school. He graduated in 1945 and performed at Dramaten until 1951, when he moved to Malmö City Theatre. From 1961 to 1965, he acted at Uppsala City Theatre and from 1965 to 1966 at Stockholm City Theatre, after which he returned to Dramaten. Throughout his career, he also appeared in over ten films.
